I probably wouldn't have purchased this book if I'd known it wasn't the complete story. I love Lara Adrian's Midnight series, even though I'm not a big fan of vampire stories. Each of those books is a complete story about a different main character. This is a well written story, but it has two more books to come to complete the story. The next one isn't due out until winter of this year. I will have forgotten by that time. A little disappointed.Product details

WOW!
I'm going to have to stop right there and cool down a bit before rushing head-long into a review that may consist of not much more than "I LOVE THIS STORY!"
I do love Lara Adrian, (her Midnight Breed series is one of my all-time favorite reads), and preordered this book as soon as it popped up. Avery Ross, struggling artist/bartender, woman with a horrible past she wishes she could forget, tries to make her own way in the big city. As her world begins to crumble around her, she is offered the chance to pull herself up by apartment-sitting for a woman she just met at the restaurant where she tends bar.
Bumping into multi-billionaire, Dominic Baine, was never in the plan. Bumping into him a second time and taking up his offer.... that wasn't in the plan either. Falling for this 'shadow mogul' and opening up her heart to reveal wounds that never healed.... THAT was never going to happen. But, she does fall for him and his demands for trust and honesty, crack her wide open. Even as secrets spill out to this mysterious man, she holds back. And so does Dominic Baine.
Because the story is told through Avery's eyes, by the end (and yes, it's a cliffy!), we know little to nothing about Dominic Baine besides the fact that he's devastatingly handsome, filthy rich and has an insatiable sexual appetite as far as Avery is concerned. And YES, the pages burn with sensuality, passion and sex. Lots of it. Lara Adrian teases the reader like crazy tossing out little tid-bits of Avery's past here and there on the pages, never revealing any one whole truth all the way through the book as if Avery has buried her past so deep, even she can't bring herself to think of it for more than a second before she slams the door shut to keep anything from escaping. So not only is this first book in the series full of passion and sex, it also has a wonderful mystery/thriller edge to it. All of this combined with Lara Adrian's talented writing style and beautiful story telling, makes for a fantastic start to her new erotic series.
Wow. There is nothing better than finding a great new-to-you author... If my understanding is correct, this was the author's first book outside of her normal erotic sub genres. Those happen to not be ones I read regularly, perhaps my unfamiliarity with Lara Adrian.
If so, WELCOME and WELL DONE, Ms. Adrian!!! So happy to have "met" you via your writing in "For 100 Days"... Thank you for entertaining me with this book, and this fresh new series!
I am on pins and needles to see how far the author will push this plotline.
"For 100 Days" truly sets the bar for this to potentially be a phenomenal series. The plot, characters, writing, the narrative... it all combines for a great, sexy story. And luckily for me, the ingredients to be , "my kinda series".
I am lucky in that I can go straight into book 2... Time will only tell if this series now lives up to my high hopes and expectations. Book 1 leads me to believe that I have no reason to doubt...
Sick of paying 6 bucks and the ending is a cliffhanger and more books at 6 dollars a pop to read about more sex with the same couple with new secrets. .love this author but not buying a book that goes on and on about trust then oh no no trust
“Would he want me like this if he knew I was at the gallery party by coincidence rather than invitation? Would he treat me differently if I told him I was a failing artist and struggling bartender? That I had no money and nowhere to go before I’d suddenly gotten the chance to live in his fancy building for a little while?
“What would he think if he knew all of my other secrets? The ugly ones. The dangerous ones. The ones I’ve never let see the light of day.
“He doesn’t know any of that. And he won’t.”
FINAL DECISION More of a beginning than a whole story, this book introduces the characters of Avery and Nick and begins to give readers the scope of the questions that are still unanswered. Oh, and there is lots and lots of sex.
THE STORY Avery Ross, struggling artist and bartender, needs a break. She has about had to give up on her dream of being in New York. Just at her lowest point, she gets the opportunity to apartment sit at a ritzy Park Avenue address. There she runs into Dominic Baine, billionaire and owner of the penthouse apartment. What begins as two strangers with an intense sexual attraction becomes more than Avery expected — or perhaps wants. She has deep, dark painful secrets that she is keeping and which would tear her and Nick apart. The thing is — she knows that he is damaged and has secrets as well.
OPINION There has been a series of these billionaire hero multi-book series recently, most famously Crossfire and Shades of Grey. Some good some disappointing. This book is a nice kick off to the series but because there is almost nothing resolved — or fully revealed here — I reserve the right to be mightly annoyed if this series doesn’t have a good resolution.
As is often the case in this billionaire hero books, Nick is mysterious and damaged. In fact, this book leaves almost his entire story a mystery. For me, knowing that there is more to come in the series, it worked that Nick’s story is yet to come. What is revealed here about Nick is pretty nice. He’s totally into Avery and although he wants her surrender, he wants to care for her. Of course, the problem will clearly be that while he wants all her secrets, he really has no intention of sharing his own.
Avery has secrets. One of her secrets is fairly easy to guess if one reads this a particular trope. It is almost a cliche, although it is well done here. What I did really like is that the end of the book makes it clear that Avery has other secrets that are not revealed in this book. Her unwillingness to trust other people, to be willing to allow others to help and care for her are understandable in this book and I actually liked her character. She isn’t a naive plaything for Nick by any means.
Their relationship is sexy and hot but also gentle and sweet at times. There is less angst in the relationship between them than I might have expected. Most of the drama and turmoil is external — except for the fact that Avery has lied about herself to Nick from the beginning and that lie becomes more looming and dangerous as the story goes by.
I enjoyed this book and believe it has the promise of being a really good story — but it will depend upon the other books in the series so I’m reserving judgment.
WORTH MENTIONING This book is only part one of the story between Avery and Nick. Be prepared to commit to all three books to get the full story.
CONNECTED BOOKS FOR 100 DAYS is the first book in a trilogy about Avery and Nick.
