Beast master Hosteen Storm has heard about the plot, but when the circus comes to Arzor, he doesn't realize his mortal peril. The circus, with its many colorful acts, is danger cloaked in the swirling excitement of the show. Laris loves all animals, and is herself able to communicate with them. When she meets Hosteen and becomes friends with him and his family, she desperately wants to warn him, to save him and his animals. But as the circus nears the end of its stay on Arzor, the deadly plotters prepare to strike at those Laris cares about . . . and at her, if she interferes!

I hesitate to say there is violence. Andre Norton alludes to battles between beasts, humans and aliens, but by today's standards, the violence is about a 2 on a 1 to 100 scale.Norton has been a favorite of mine for over 50-years and although this is a collaboration between Norton and Lyn McConchie, from Andre's notes, these stories are absolutely true to the Andre Norton legacy as a gifted writer and story teller.

rereading norton. still as good as i remember.
Nice read Andre Norton always gives a good story with the right amount of action, mystery, suspense in the headmaster stories.
A book by one of the great SCI-FI authors.
Love Andre work, a really good read. The series is worth to read all but each book stands well on their own!
I also lived this story. Adventures in other worlds, places with furred companions. Another. Great Andre Norton story with action, romance, ect.
I had read the first two books in the series in my youth. It was a delightful surprise to find the saga continued in two more! Thanks to I discovered this third in the series and I’m buying the fourth one now. Andre Norton was one of the very first sci fi writers I ever read, and despite decades passing, her stories still carry the same appeal. Thanks, !
This is Andre Norton at her best. I highly recommend this book. You should know that this is the last of a series and the others should be read first.
